please feel free to email me at c9315810@alinga.newcastle.edu.au
verses: Dm Dm/C A#maj7 Am
choruses: Gm Am A# C
if you are playing this song by yourself (as so many of us bedroom
performers do) you might want to play the full chords as listed for the
chorus. for the pedants, you will notice that on the recording, these
are played as simple power chords.
Dm xx0231
Dm/C x30231
A#maj7 x13231 or x1323x (if yr lazy like me)
Am x02210
Brian also suggests playing Asus4 for the first two beats of the Am
chord...and it works for me, so here's the chord along with my thanks to Brian for the corrections.
Asus4 x02230
Gm (full chord) 355333 or G5 (power chord) 355xxx
Am (full chord) x02210 or A5 (power chord) x022xx

SOLO
this solo isn't too hard, just alot of work to transcribe, so just try noodling around in the key of D minor... Marty seems to use alot of descending runs in this solo (which also features a delay, or echo, effect throughout).
Intro Bit + Lead
Verse 1
[Dm] [Dm/C] [A#maj7] [Am]
The wine in your hand is worth two at the bar
[Dm] [Dm/C] [A#maj7] [Am]
And everybody knows what you've been drinking
[Dm] [Dm/C] [A#maj7] [Am]
Disgraceful sky flecked with a nightmare of stars
[Dm] [Dm/C] [A#maj7] [Am]
And everybody knows how you've been sinking
Chorus 1
[Gm] [Am] [A#] [C]
Long distance century buzzes and fades
[Gm] [Am] [A#] [C]
I wonder why you've not resigned
[Gm] [Am] [A#] [C]
Previews processions and parades
[Dm] [Dm/C] [A#maj7] [C]
You've got to grind, grind it out
Verse 2
Line up the arrows, push off the top
This can cause sustain forever
And once it's started up, it cannot be stopped
At least it's holding us together
Chorus 2
Long distance century buzzes and fades
An automatic charge on your mind
The glittering minutes, jangled decades
We've got to grind, grind it out
Verse 3 (if you don't have a piano player handy, just strum the chords
really softly)
A vortex appears, unleashed by the crash
A moment marred by hesitation
Bedazzled surgeon chases the gash
But we don't need that operation
Chorus 3
Long distance century buzzes and fades
Elysian Fields not far behind
Find me a witness amongst these shades
They've got to grind, grind it out
Solo
Chorus 4
Long distance century buzzes and fades
I hope the deaf can lead the blind
Lift me up into those whirling blades
I've got to grind, grind it out
