Couple of quotes about recording "live sound" from 1986/7 Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 January 1987
I just have a clipping of this - date, publication and author are unknown, but 1987 seems right.

Marty Willson-Piper
English-born Marty Willson-Piper, of the otherwise-Austrailan quartet the Church, is one half (with Peter Koppes) of a guitar duo that dominates the band's live shows but has never been captured completely on vinyl. The band's singer/assist/songwriter, Steve Kilbey, says he'd like to capture a bit more of the twin-guitar interplay on the next Church album: "I think that we sometimes reach these transcendental peaks on stage, which we've never even come close to on record. I don't know if we can get them on record, but I'd really like to try." During a recent English tour, a road-weary Willson-Piper abruptly quit but returned to the band a few days later, citing "temporary insanity" as the reason for his short-lived desertion.
